The 5-year warranty on your Steinway piano covers a highly complex instrument. It is interesting to note, for example, that a Stradivarius violin has 4 strings which are tuned before each playing, while your Steinway piano has in the neighborhood of 230 strings (the number of strings varies depending on scale design). They are expected to stay in tune for considerable lengths of time under varying temperature and humidity conditions.
Your warranty does not cover routine maintenance such as tuning, action regulation and tone regulation. It does protect you against defects in materials or workmanship for 5 full years. Your best guarantee of long-term satisfaction from your Steinway piano's performance will be your continuing care of the instrument, as recommended in this section.
